Code Of Conduct

TPN wish to ensure that ads placed via its networks do not appear on websites which could jeopardize advertisers’ brands. This Code of Conduct presents TPNs formal framework for dealing with the placement of advertisers campaigns on suitable inventory.

TPN, its staff and associates will use their best endeavours to abide by this code on conduct.

Inventory Classification

TPN classifieds content into four classes;

  1. TPN Standard
  2. TPN Optional
  3. TPN Extended
  4. Barred Content

TPN campaigns will run in TPN Standard inventory unless the Insertion Order signed by the client or their agent gives permission to place the ads on one or more of the TPN Optional categories or TPN Extended inventory.

TPN Standard

 Are websites, email lists and other inventory that have been vetted directly by TPN or by a member of IASH and who do not fall into the TPN Optional, Extended or Barred content categories.

TPN Optional

These content categories are not barred by the major ad network industry bodies but are generally agreed to be sensitive content and thus require signed permission to be included in the placement of a campaign. Again all these sites have been positively vetted by TPN or a member of IASH.

TPN Does not offer inventory in most of these Industry defined Optional categories

  • Adult
  • Adware
  • Toolbars
  • File Sharing
  • Peer To Peer
  • Desk Top Applications
  • Politically Sensitive Content
  • Uncontrolled Or Unmoderated Forums
  • Self Generated Content Facilitating Dynamic Downloads

Recommended TPN Optional

*These five categories are recommended for most campaigns as TPN can provide quality mainstream inventory in these categories where response & ROI rates are proven. Named sites accessible via leading ad exchanges will also be utilised to extend reach.

  • Non-English Languages*
  • Moderated Forums*
  • Incentivised Clicks*
  • Blogs*
  • Personal Home Pages*
  • Premium Ad Exchanges (named sites) *

TPN Extended

TPN Extended includes inventory provided by 3rd party ad networks who may not be full members of IASH. The networks provide inventory on a blind buy basis and so the sites may not have been directly vetted by TPN or a member of  IASH. Each 3rd party network is required to confirm they have vetted the sites themselves or via their partners to be in accordance with the Standard inventory category defined above and to confirm that ads will only appear on inventory falling under one of the Optional categories if authorised in writing by the advertiser and TPN.

Barred Content

Full details on barred content can be found in TPN’s publisher T&C’s

  • Hate Content, Obscenity and Indecency
  • bombs, ammunition or other offensive weapons.
  • Invalid Clicks (non-Human Clicks)
  • Spyware
  • Unauthorised code request (from non-approved URLs)

TPN Vetting Procedure

TPN carries out vetting before a site joins the network and every 6 months thereafter.

The vetting procedure includes:

a) a thorough visual check of the site’s content;

b) an internet search for adverse comment about the site;

c) the allocation of the site into one of the inventory classes:
‘TPN Standard’, ‘TPN Optional’, or ‘Barred’ according to definitions above

d) the automatic rejection of any inventory classed as ‘barred’;

e) the further sub-division of ‘TPN Optional’ inventory into one of the specific classification above.

f) a recommendation to accept or to reject the inventory by the person vetting the site;

g) a final decision to accept/reject the inventory authorised by a senior member of staff.

A full site list and vetting documents are available at TPN office for audit purposes.
